Come Together, Right Now to the BarCamp Kyrgyzstan! (Part Two)

So, most seats in our bus is already reserved. It turned out that we've got quite a lot of barcampers (and I am really happy to know this). The next thing we have to decide is where our co-citizens will be staying during three days of BarCamp. But... there is not much to decide, because the organizers have already prepared some good news for us.

The Soros Foundation offices in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have generously provided not only a bus, but also hotel grants. Come on, guys, altogether now: "Thank you!" =)

All in all, here is the competition for the fast and furious ones: the first 20 persons, who would send in an application under a "Give me a shelter" title, will have an opportunity to pay only 50% of the hotel room's price (i.e. nearly 1,500 tenge instead of 3,000 per night).

Applications should be sent at the same address - barcampkz@gmail.com .

Please, specify the following:

  • Name, Surname
  • Email
  • Mobile phone number

As soon as we get 20 applications, the list of lucky pals will be posted. By the way, those who are still hoping for the chance to be given a lift to Bishkek and back on a super cool BarCamp bus, please, hurry up! There are just a few seats left here...

Come Together, Right Now - to BarCamp in Kyrgyzstan!

Well, dearest colleagues and friends, it is now time to kick up your heels and draft up your presentations for the brand new barcamp =)

Our friends and good neighbours are currently preparing their second camp - BarCamp Kyrgyzstan 2009. Traditionally, it will take place in Bishkek, at the American University in Central Asia (AUCA) in September 4-6. You can learn so much more about this coming barcamp on www.barcamp.kg, and you can also register right there.

But this is not the only good news for now. The organizers of BarCamp-Kyrgyzstan do follow the best practices of global campers and provide a whole bus for the guests from Kazakhstan.

If you want to be among 50 lucky barcampers, who will be given a free ride to Bishkek and back to Almaty fill in a brief application form and send it to Inessa Shlapak at barcampkz@gmail.com

Please, specify the following:
1. Name, Surname;
2. Occupaton;
3. Why you want to go to BarCamp;
4. Contact information: phone and email

The deadline for applications is August 30. Then we will compile a list, and those who would be included in it will receive an acceptance notification. Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to address them at barcampkz@gmail.com or just call +7 777 396 54 63

Everyone of you fall in love with the place where all barcamp happened to be. And it is understandable, 'cause the place we have got is just PERFECT! Newly equipped rooms with all necessary technics and an open space where all of you rested between the sessions made you feel yourself comfortable like at home and work as effective as possible.

And all thanks to KIMEP, our host sponsor! It was a pleasure to work with you, guys! And we are looking forward to continue our partnership in future! Thank you so much for being supportive, trying not only to give the best space ever, but care of everyone at the space...

Favourite digital tool of digital natives in Central Asia

A fair, free and sustainable world – that is what HIVOS, the Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation, wants to contribute to. Together with local organisations in developing countries, HIVOS strives for a world in which all citizens – both men and women – have equal access to resources and opportunities for development.

That is why HIVOS together with NewEurasia.net - Blogging Central Asia project supported our BarCamp Central Asia 2009 which is for promotion education and media, new skills for new future.

We were so happy to actually have Monique Doppert coming from far away (the Netherlands) to our conference (I personally have enjoyed so much seeing you there, and I am sure many had pleasure to actually talk to you where I have missed a lot 'cause a lot of coference management required my presence), and here I am happy to post a video she has made during BarCamp Central Asia 2009.

Please, enjoy!!

Barcamper’s favourite tools

Last week I attended the Barcamp in Almaty. Again it was a lively and informal gathering of enthusiastic digital natives from all over Central Asia. On this videoclip (6.30 min.) some of them share the digital tools they use most and probable also love most.

...and sent a very very very much interesting link for those of you who is crazy about reporting. And I personally think, it is brilliant!

We are looking for you. The ever-expanding Metropolis network is always looking for new video journalists to join us! If you're a filmmaker or videoblogger from outside The Netherlands, and if you know your city by heart, you can find out here how to get into the action.

Chances are not everywhere for any time and for everyone. Do not miss yours!

ZigZag Photo from our barcamp!

Our great Kazakhstani social photo service that we are proud of and our friends and partners who does it actually - ZigZag Photo - have made a lot of great photo-memories during 3 barcamp-days.

They were professionally catching moment by moment happening on the conference and by now are ready to share it! Because it is just amazing to be in 3, 10, every place at the same time but unfortunately physically impossible, but as much desired as possible! And that huge photo-exhibition arganized by ZigZag Photo for our happiness made us feel themselves happy enough!

Let's confess the fact that parts of the barcamp gallery are still stored somewhere at your houses in real alive albums at your homes because, thanks to ZigZag Photo, it was possible to take a part of the gallery with you on the closure party!

Also AMOST EVERYTHING could be seen at our ZigZag BarCamp album
